The "state" widely referred to as "Israel" has within the last few days ordered the indefinite closure of the King Hussein Bridge, also known as the Allenby Bridge, cutting off the only gateway between the occupied West Bank, in Palestine, and Jordan. The closure of this crossing, which is practically the only exit and entry point for Palestinians wishing to travel outside the West Bank, is a clearly punitive response by the genocidal regime of "Israel" to the far too late recognition of Palestine by a host of Western nations.
Furthermore on Tuesday evening "Israel" carried out a disgusting and illegal assault on the flotilla attempting to symbolically break that Siege of Gaza, the Global Sumud Flotilla.
Video footage and accounts were posted to various social media platforms.
“Multiple drones, unidentified objects dropped, communications jammed and explosions heard from a number of boats,” the Global Sumud Flotilla said in a statement, according to Al Jazeera, adding: “We are witnessing these psychological operations firsthand, right now, but we will not be intimidated.”
Firstly, we extend our solidarity, as ever, to the Palestinian people, who live under siege and through famine and violent persecution.
We also reaffirm our longstanding (since inception) recognition of reality: there is a Palestinian State, but there is no "State of Israel" - there is only a genocidal project pursued by violent settlers.
We call on those States which have recognised Palestine to take the radical step of derecognition for that genocidal project, if they truly oppose the genocide we have witnessed unfolding for decades - and intensified horrifically this past 718 days.
We condemn "Israel" for these acts of brutality. We condemn the closure of the Allenby Bridge crossing; we condemn attacks on a civilian flotilla, and we redouble our perpetual and ongoing condemnation of the genocidal project that the settler regime is conducting in the land of Palestine.
We in the strongest terms possible reiterate our support for a free land of Palestine, from the river to the sea, where all who seek to live in peace may do so safely, with equal and full access to democratic and civil rights for all - and we will continue to commit labour, both as a Party and as individuals, to precisely that end.

Dear Zarah Sultana MP,
We, the membership of Harmony, are writing to you today to praise your ongoing and historic solidarity with trans people.&nbsp;
We are a Party with strong roots in the trans community.&nbsp; Our founder and general secretary is nonbinary, and we as a party are led always by our Trans Liberation Assembly on trans matters.&nbsp;
We recognise your isolation. Many of us have experienced that isolation as we have stood up for ourselves – in the Labour Party, in small local organisations, and even in our own families. Standing up as an ally is difficult, too.&nbsp;
So it is that we recognise and applaud your willingness to stand up against bigotry masquerading as so-called “social conservatism”. Trans people are people. We are not a debate. We are individuals, with hopes and fears and dreams.&nbsp;
Jeremy Corbyn has highlighted this himself in the past, and has called for us to be given the “dignity” we deserve, despite his current silence and his public embrace of an MP who has spent far too much of the last week being provocatively transphobic.&nbsp;
But we already carry that dignity within us. It is not for others to give, but for us to reclaim.
We claim our own freedom, just as we choose how we express our own identities. This is the lesson of queer liberation: we each deserve to forge our own destinies as best we can within the wider world.
The wider lesson of liberation is that your freedom, as you of course are well aware, is contingent on ours. There is no end to transphobia without an end to racism; there is no end to Islamophobia without an end to transphobia. Ableism does not pass from the world without white supremacy going with it.&nbsp;
These oppressions are a web of violence within which we all toil in pursuit of liberation.
We see your standing alone against the tide within “Your Party” as a brave and important thing, and we offer our solidarity both from within and without — as many of us have joined the new party as well.
We hope you will persist this course, Zarah, and wish swift victory to your hand in the struggle we know is happening behind the scenes but we are not a part of. And should you yourself need a safe space, know you always have allies elsewhere, even those you have not yet met.&nbsp;

Tonight's shambles of a session of the Commons was noteworthy for a few things. Firstly, for the violent decision to take away vital support from some of the most at-need people in the country - willfully, in full knowledge of that act.
And secondly, the laughter that rang out through the Commons repeatedly between votes as MPs enjoyed themselves.
What more is there to say about that?
We all knew what was coming despite talk of rebellion (just 49 Labour MPs voted against in the end) and despite claims of last-minute changes from Stephen Timms - changes which the Government is not bound to stick to.
The Commons happily voted with their eyes closed on an issue impacting millions of disabled people in this country and it could not be plainer that none of them are fit for their roles. Shambles is exactly the right word.
They should lose their seats.
And as the first political party led on disability issues entirely by disabled people in British history, you can rest assured we will be working hard between now and the next election to make sure at the very least some do.

The petition created by our member Abi Broomfield (<a href="https://x.com/ChronicallyVex">@ChronicallyVex on Twitter/X</a>) calling for the protection of Disability benefits from these cruel government cuts has reached 25000 signatures. While it is great we've reached 25% of our target, we need a massive push so we can reach 100,000 signatures and get a Parliamentary debate in Westminster.
A Parliamentary debate would see MPs - especially those who are against these cuts - have an opportunity to grill those few who do support the cuts, making it all the plainer just how unpopular these violent and regressive "reforms" really will be.
We are calling for the scrapping of these cuts to Disability benefits and actually want an increase of benefits to close the gap between them and the additional costs Disabled people face.
Petition creator Abi Broomfield said: "To get to 100,000 signatures, we need your help.
"We need you to share this petition to everyone you know online and offline. You need to write to your MP. We need you to get on the streets protesting if you can."

We also want to establish a national disabled people's assembly - itself composed of regional assemblies - which would act as the "watchdog" for disabled people's rights, accessibility, and other disability issues at State level. We don't just want to be consulted: we want to take the lead on our own liberation.

We utterly and completely condemn the unlawful hijacking of the Madleen and subsequent kidnapping &amp; detention of the 12 civilians on board by the “State*” widely referred to as “Israel”. The Madleen was sailing under a British flag in international waters. The ship is a member of the “Freedom Flotilla”, which is seeking to end the illegal genocidal blockade of Gaza by “Israel”.&nbsp;
Their symbolic attempt to breach the blockade sought to open the door for more sizeable amounts of aid to reach the besieged Gaza Strip by sea - and it cannot be clearer that the deployment of so-called “elite special forces” by “Israel” against civilians is unacceptable. That those civilians were aboard a British flagged ship makes this especially egregious from our point of view, as a British political party. We have nothing but praise for the Freedom Flotilla activists, including climate campaigner Greta Thunberg and French MEP Rima Hassan, but equally many others whose names are not widely known, who felt compelled to act – and have done so with great courage.
Harmony Party UK general secretary and acting party envoy John Urquhart insisted: “We demand that the British Government act to secure the safety of British shipping in the future by issuing the most severe rebuke possible to the ‘State’ of ‘Israel’ in response to this utterly unacceptable incident – which creates uncertainty around the sanctity and safety of civilians travelling freely in international waters. Piracy cannot be tolerated, regardless of whether that piracy is carried out by an entity feigning statehood while perpetrating genocide.
“We demand this as a secondary to our demand that the British Government, led by Labour, immediately cease its participation in the genocide being perpetrated by the ‘State’ of ‘Israel’ against the Palestinian people in the Occupied Territories – not least by ending overflights from Cyprus and by immediately embargoing all arms and military technology transfers to ‘Israel’.”
We as a Party insist that:

<li >The blockade must end and aid – foodstuffs and shelter and medicine all – must freely flow into Gaza, uninterrupted by “Israel”</li>
<li >The Israeli ambassador should be ejected in protest at this action against a British flagged vessel, as well as in protest against said ambassador’s deeply reprehensible and regular genocidal rhetoric in public</li>
<li >All weapons sales to or from, and military tech transfers to or from “Israel” should be banned</li>
<li >All UK businesses should be banned from purchasing from any Israeli business operating on occupied territory under international law</li>
<li >The UK Government must further exert all pressure and influence possible to force an end to the pursuit of genocide by the “State” of “Israel”.</li>

* Throughout this statement the "State" of "Israel" is referred to in quotes, in that fashion. The reasoning for this is that we do not as a party as a direct consequence of the ongoing genocide (and as a consequence of Apartheid) recognise the "state of Israel". We do, however, recognise the State of Palestine.

As a political party we welcome <a title="Background news article." rel="noopener" href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1mgl71mk17o" target="_blank">the banning of political parties at four of the largest Pride events in the UK this year (in Birmingham, Brighton, London and Manchester).</a> <a title="Information on the relevant Party assembly can be found here." rel="noopener" href="lgbtqiaplus.html" target="_blank">We are led by our queer members on queer matters</a>, and <a title="The relevant assembly." href="tla.html">by this assembly on trans matters</a> and we are clear that the hostility towards the trans community in recent years has culminated in the ideological violence of the Supreme Court Ruling last month. Pride is supposed to be a safe place and we want our trans siblings to know they are safe, welcome and more importantly loved. If political parties aren't welcoming to trans people then they have no business in queer spaces at all.
Party general secretary John Urquhart, who is nonbinary, said: "Just as cops have no place in Pride because they do grave harms to the communities sheltering together in the queer community, political parties in the UK have no place in Pride either. Unlike the cops, though, the other parties can make this right. They can kick out the transphobes and stand together with our community, just like so many of their own queer members keep demanding they do."
We don't mind having to sit this out just because we, too, are a political party. What matters most is the safety of our trans siblings. We stand with the trans community forever and always. Trans women are women, trans men are men, and nonbinary folk are valid.

The state widely referred to as “Israel” has never been secretive about its desire to annex the Gaza Strip. And now the cabinet of that “state” has unanimously agreed the annexation of and forced relocation of the people of the Gaza Strip. There can be absolutely no denial: this was the plan all along. We forcefully condemn this overt, public declaration of genocidal intent as we did the quieter drumbeat of genocidal demands issuing forth from the ruling class of “Israel” for many months, and we call on the people of Britain and the world to fulfill our moral obligation to oppose it with all the energy we can muster.
This morning it was also “revealed” that the British Government has been secretly sending military materials to the Israelis in support of the ongoing genocide. This has been apparent of course for a long time – with so many flights from Cyprus with heavy lifting aircraft to “Israel” it really couldn’t have been much more apparent – but we applaud the journalistic effort which has dragged the fact kicking and screaming further into the light.
We also think that those in Government who have supported genocide must face justice – in both this, the current Labour Government, and the prior Conservative Government, there are those who have significant culpability due to their overt decisions to support the genocidal regime of “Israel”. This has had real and horrifying consequences for the people of Palestine – who have been subject to not only bombardment and ground offensives and hunting by armed drones, but also a complete blockade of all humanitarian materials since March 2nd.
This is on top of the already ongoing blockade which had massively restricted all materials into the Strip since 2023. Food and water supplies are running out in Gaza today; a recurring phrase chosen by Palestinians in Gaza to express their starvation to the world and plead for financial aid on social media has been “I swear I do not have a piece of bread that is not mouldy”. Another is “I swear I did not want to eat the mouldy bread.”
It is not without reason that they use this phrasing. All of the bakeries in the Strip have been closed for weeks, and what flour remains now costs in the region of $350 a bag – and it is often now mixed with sand, which must be sifted before bread can be baked.
These are the conditions which the Siege of Gaza, enacted by the government of the “state” of “Israel”, has enacted.
Action Apartheid member and Harmony Party UK Treasurer Helena Hyatt said, "Whilst the country ramps up for 80th anniversary of VE day - widely touted as a victory over fascism and genocide - it is unfathomable that Israel's land grab and genocide against the Palestinian people is being ignored. Harmony stands for all oppressed peoples all over the world and holds this country directly responsible not just for failing to oppose this genocide, but for its active complicity in supplying arms and intelligence to the genocidal 'state' of 'Israel'."
We will conclude by saying that “Israel” is not a “state”: it is a genocide project. It is unconscionable that that project has such broad European and American support: we condemn all elements of it, but most deeply and loudly this latest push towards accelerated ethnic cleansing. We call on the people of Britain – and the world – to (continue to) rise up with actions direct and indirect to assert clearly once and for all that we will not let this stand and we demand justice.

Statement: We Condemn Israeli Ethnic Cleansing Plan

We have received reports that the Department for Work and Pensions has failed to "blind copy" (also known as "BCC") the participants of the upcoming virtual consultation resulting in anyone who was sent an email being able to see the emails of every other attendee. We feel this is a significant safeguarding breach, and the kind of error that is difficult to understand given the size, scope, and institutional experience of the department in question.
The DWP employs tens of thousands of people and has safeguarding responsibility for millions: that it must do better than this could not be more obvious given the recent example of the case of "David" - a man who died after his benefits were cut by the DWP, but which were subsequently reinstated, possibly after they learned of his death.
Given that the DWP is responsible for safeguarding the data of millions of people in this country it is beyond reprehensible that a breach of this nature should take place, even if it does seem relatively minor. Benefit claimants must feel secure in sending incredibly privileged information to the DWP as a natural part of claiming; keeping data safe is an integral part of the department's role.

Statement On DWP GDPR Blunder Regarding Pathways to Work Virtual Consultations

The Government has this morning published a frankly deeply disrespectful response to the petition "Protect Disabled people who cannot work from planned cuts to benefits". Much of it is formed of previously released information (a rundown of what we already knew) - and it leans heavily on false claims, such as the notion that cutting disability benefits will, in some sense, "protect disabled people". The claim that the benefits system is unduly costly is also a lie.
Having digested that disrespectful and lazy response, we say that it is all the more clear that those within the Commons who are against these cuts deserve to be given the opportunity to rise and speak for us in a debate - at least once.
After all, disabled people deserve that opportunity of a voice at the very least.

First and foremost let us set out our stall. We are a party founded by a nonbinary person. We support trans people today. We supported them yesterday. Harmony both as a party and as a community of individuals will support trans people - always. 
Thus this ruling has been a painful thing to witness. We have, as a collective, seen it from within and from without. It cannot be plainer that the violent rhetoric we have seen intensifying from the transphobic lobby almost from the instant the Supreme Court ruling dropped is deeply dangerous.
It is incredible to witness the highest judiciary in the land being weaponised as an implement of stochastic terrorism by way of ideological capture by a pernicious and vicious anti-trans lobby focused not purely on the hatred of trans people, but also, we observe, on the hatred of women more generally.&nbsp;
The anti-trans lobby seek to erode the idea of self-determination itself. This sits at the very root of consent.&nbsp; If we cannot choose who we are, and we are not to choose what we do with or become with our bodies, then where does the erosion of consent end?
We have seen in the United States of America how this leads to erosion of bodily autonomy - how it leads to women dying when a simple medical procedure could save their lives.
Given those who lend support to the transphobic lobby most vociferously and gleefully, this should give anyone pause for concern. “Mens rights” activists, literal Nazis, and other unsavoury sorts have not just attached themselves to the anti-trans lobby: they were there at its foundation.&nbsp;
So it is that we highlight this lack of concern about the anti-trans activities of a variety of “charities” which contributed to the ruling as powerful evidence of that ideological capture mentioned earlier. We note also that the contributions were weighed heavily in the favour of the anti-trans lobby.
We can be confident in saying that Supreme Court has ruled in the way it has expressly because it has been effectively instructed to do so. Anyone reading between the lines can quite easily deduce this; so we have.
The ruling is also muddled and contradictory; it claims to not pick a side, yet it so clearly has. Most problematic in many ways is the handwaving distinction drawn between “biological” sex and “certificated” sex. Yet any attempt to define “biological” sex invariably falls back on birth certificates.
The ruling speaks of women’s spaces, but it is unclear what is meant by this. Is a women’s space a space where you tend to find women - or is it a space defined specifically by exemptions to the Equality Act?
The ruling tells lesbians how to run their communities and repeats anti-trans talking points, often using the very same language trans and nonbinary people will be accustomed to experiencing while encountering bigotry and prejudice. Further, the anti-trans talking points repeatedly raised do not in any way reflect the views and practices of the majority of the LGBTQ+ community. You could say it flies in the face of consensus - but that is precisely why we call the ruling one of “ideological capture”.
This ruling chills the atmosphere substantially for trans and nonbinary people, and that is why we called this an instance of stochastic terrorism by ideological capture.&nbsp;
It is clear to us that the media will react to this by muddying the waters and making claims not in keeping with the ruling itself – we have already seen one institution, British Transport Police, make an entirely inappropriate decision around body searches of women based on a complete misunderstanding (we would say deliberate) of that ruling.
The media will, we are sure, claim that trans and nonbinary people are now not welcome in spaces in which, in truth, we are. And always will be. The reason we always will be is that the people within them have always welcomed us – they did before the ruling and they will after.
So it is that we call on the UK government to abandon their appeasement of hate and prejudice. This is not occurring in isolation, we observe. Instead, we urge the government to steer the ship towards a commitment to the protection of the rights of trans and non-binary people to safety, dignity, and healthcare. We call on politicians to stand firm and tall against these attacks; to show courage against the bad faith prejudice engaged in by the anti-trans lobby and to use their experience as clear communicators to not only say no to bigotry, but to communicate in clear and uncertain terms why such behaviour is dangerous and unacceptable.
We call on the Scottish government to challenge this by any means available.
We call on all allies to resist and stand with trans and non-binary people. We do not mean merely socially, nor just in terms of activism. We call on you to also do the work necessary to be ready in heart and mind equally to speak out without hesitation, boldly, when called upon in our defence.&nbsp;
And we call on LGBTQ+ people to stand together and resist the divisional cries of some: we are greater than the sum of our parts when we are in solidarity with one another in spite of as well as because of our differences.
With love to all of our trans and nonbinary siblings; trans women remain women. Trans men remain men. Nonbinary people remain valid. Today, tomorrow, and always.

First and foremost let us set out our stall. We are a party founded by a nonbinary person. We support trans people today. We supported them yesterday. Harmony both as a party and as a community of individuals will support trans people - always.
